Class Policy
Pottery Studio Policies
For all studio visitors and class participants:
- Admission and Reservation: Only individuals with paid reservations will be admitted to the studio promptly at designated class times. The studio may only be accessed during the specific allotted time, and no additional persons (partner, friend, child, or pet) are permitted without a separate paid reservation.
- Safety Measures: For safety reasons, individuals with long hair must tie it back, and all jewelry should be removed before engaging in studio activities.
- Personal Belongings: SOYOU ceramics is not liable for any personal items lost or left behind by clients during a class. It is strongly recommended to leave all jewelry and valuables at home.
- Care of Artwork: While every effort is made to handle pieces with care, please note that during the kiln firing process, glaze melting, pinholes, black spots, and other defects may occur. Techniques taught in class aim to minimize these defects.
- Follow Instructions: Participants are expected to carefully follow all instructions, including cutting and attaching decorations. The studio is not responsible for defects resulting from manufacturing errors, such as cutting mistakes, improper decoration attachment, or plate bending. The studio will not be remaking/repairing pieces and they will be given as is.
Print: If participants would like to add a print design using the underglaze transfer sheets, there will be a $20 fee added for a 2x2 print. Any print that is bigger than the standard size will have an additional fee. If participants use a print, they acknowledge that it may take longer for them to pick up their pieces as the pieces must go through a third firing.
Make-Up Classes:
SOYOU ceramics does not provide make-up classes or issue reimbursements for missed classes, programs, or workshops due to student illness, emergencies, weather, substitute instructors, or other uncontrollable circumstances.
Pick-Up Policy:
All member and student work will be stored on designated shelves for two months after being unloaded from the kiln. Any work remaining on the pick-up shelf after this period will be donated or discarded, including unfireable pieces.
Surveillance:
The studio is under 24/7 surveillance via security cameras to ensure the safety and security of all members, students, staff, visitors, and equipment.
